Ardis Technologies shows DDPs Project Sharing in M & E
@ stand D55 at MPTS 2025 in London

April 2025

In the DDPSAN stand D55 DDPs unique Project Caching is demonstrated.
DDP shared storage systems come with hard disks, SSDs or a combination of both. The combination gives the best of both worlds: high predictable performance with large capacity at the best price. This is achieved using Project Caching. Project Caching is caching, which is folders and files aware. Most NAS systems use a cache mechanism, which has no knowledge of folders and files. This is not the best solution for M & E.

Material in M & E is organized in projects using folders. The ideal shared storage solution is one with project caching. Plus the caching should not interfere with your computer operations.
DDPs come with the A/V FS file system.
Within A/V FS project data can be transferred internally between cache and hard disks without effecting users and the directory tree. These transfers can be automated or managed manually. By opening the project the caching can start and when finished do nothing or press clear.

+ Data is automatically copied through to the hard disks
+ You can expand anytime without effect on the directory tree
+ Internal transfers are without effect on the directory tree
+ Internal transfers do not interfere with your actions
+ During internal transfers data is verified
+ Cache is raid protected with hot swappable SSDs

SSDs can easily handle A/V but compared to hard disks,
they are expensive. Media in M & E is organized in projects using
folder and subfolders. So a shared storage system
with transparent project caching is an affordable way to go.
SSD performance at harddisk pricing.

Post Production with Project Caching with DDP shared storage

On www.ddpsan.com select the first User Case. Project Caching is there explained in more detail. By selecting Products and then HyperDDP12D there is a video showing how Project Caching is physically integrated in a DDP.

Project Caching is demonstrated hands on with a HyperDDP12D. Also on show is the NVME based, 1U, DDP10EF with 40GB read and 30GB/s write performance and up to 300 TB SSD capacity. The DDP10EF can be used stand alone or as cache in combination with storage arrays with hard disks.
